Telelink
Telelink provides valuable social support,
interaction and "phone
friendship" for isolated older people. They are linked together
in groups once a week for 3/4 hour.
Telelink was set up in response
to UnitingCare Wesley Adelaide's
concerns for the needs of lonely and isolated older people and
their carers.
The Telelink program has been in operation since 1987.
Each week groups come together for a telephone conversation.
Groups vary in size, most average 8 participants.

Clients
Telelink is a service for isolated older people/younger people
with disabilities and carers who lack social interaction. Participants
mostly come from throughout the metropolitan area. There are
currently a number of country telelinks as well.

Volunteers
Telelink is always in need of caring volunteers, but it also
requires additional funds so that it can further regionalise
its program.
