With the change of name and greater cooperation between Uniting Church based gencies, this will be the last edition of Transmission. A new partners newsletter is currently being developed and will be produced twice per year with a second publication also being planned that will consider issues in some detail, building on from “Inside Story”.

Transmission has been produced for over 42 years, with the first edition published in May 1961 and so has provided information over a period of dramatic social, economic and technological change. Perhaps Transmission could be considered to be a publication of the space era, with Rev Vogt, Mission Superintendent, reflecting on the launch of ‘sputnik’ in the first edition. The following provides a very brief reflection of the Mission ‘making a difference’ as reported in Transmission. Vol. 1, No. 1, May 1961 included the following reports:

1993 Rapporter Launched - ‘South Australia’s only community development journal’, ACM supported the journal with each edition hosted by a different community
service organisation

Spring 2003 - Final edition printed, to be replaced by a joint publication of the 4 UnitingCare Wesley Missions in SA.
