Rap It Up – Launch
(Schools
Video Clip Competition on Mental Wellness)
The
World Health Organisation suggests that by 2020, (and probably well
before), depression will be the second most common illness on the
planet. Depression
is but one of a number of mental illnesses that are becoming more
widespread
However,
a positive attitude and support from friends are powerful antidotes
to depression and many other mental health issues.
The
Adelaide Central Mission, Pizza Hut Rap It Up competition invites
groups of secondary students to produce a video clip on any aspect
of mental well being. The
competition has 2 main goals:
1. To
raise positive attitudes amongst young people about mental health.
2. To
raise funds for Adelaide Central Mission services to young people.
The
program encourages young people to discuss any aspect of mental health
in a constructive way and to then get creative in expressing their
views though video. The
option also exists to concentrate on writing and performing (on tape)
a song related to well being.
