Goodwill Store Fire - Thanks For Community Concern, Next Steps
The Minister of UnitingCare Wesley Adelaide, Rev. Dr. Geoff Scott this morning thanked the South Australian community for their expressions of concern at the fire which destroyed the Findon Goodwill shop early today. “We particularly acknowledge the skills and concern demonstrated by the Metropolitan Fire Service, and the clear and immediate support that the media of Adelaide has provided. We have also been humbled by the caring responses from local traders, our volunteers and members of the public,” explained Rev. Scott
“We rely on community support for our day to day activities, but at times like this we are amazed at the willingness of people to assist” he added.
ACM is eager to resume trading as quickly as possible, in part because the Findon store is a major provider of low cost clothing to a large number of Western suburbs households. We are also accutely aware that the onset of cold weather will see a substantial demand for warm clothing.
Rev. Scott said “people wanting to help can do so by donating good quality clothes, particularly winter clothing to help us replace the lost stock. Donations can be made directly to Goodwill stores, or placed in green Goodwill clothing bins.” He added “but we urge people not to leave donated items outside of the shops or bins.
A hotline has been set up to receive donations, phone 8202 5109
