Glen

Glen; last Sunday dawned in the usual way,
But for one great event I'll remember this day.
We'd been to your house for a B-B-Q lunch
Rocky & Blimp, from the dive club bunch
and Jason helped too on your working bee
Air conditioner installed and watering tree.
You seemed so uptight, said "its been a down week"
But that you had help in the path that you seek.

Later that evening home watching TV
You came over and sat as sad as can be,
I asked "not so good?" and then you broke down
and I just held you tight 'til you got yourself round.
" Mum & Dad hear me out I have something to say -
To come out of the closet, I now know I'm gay.
For all of these years I've been living a lie
Now it's time to find me for I've wanted to die."

Glen we do love you so, and with all our heart
Hope the years yet to come will be the best part.
Lisa and Glenn still welcome you too
You see all is well and we do still love you.
Being gay changes nothing, my only regret
If we could've saved you from so much heartache.
So long in denial it's now time to be free
To learn to find love and to live happily.

You have wonderful friends but it's now that I see
Almost all of them married and safe company.
Young Jason to you is the son you won't have
Adventures you've shared and good times you've had
But the fear that you feel to tell his Mum and Dad,
You've just been good mates, its friendship you had.
I pray they accept you as they've always done,
You won't grow two heads, you're still the same one.

I've no doubt that in time you'll make some new friends
And move in new circles and view other trends.
But as you go on in your quest for what's right
Let all of your old friends stay mates for life.
You've stood by your friends thru thick and thru thin,
Let's hope they will stay as true as you've been
And as you finally become at ease with yourself
Put a smile on your face, you're now off the shelf.

All our love and best wishes from your Mum and Dad.
